Everyone Welcome

Tuesday, July 20, 2004:
The Indiana PC Users Group held its monthly meeting at the Indiana County Technology Center, Hamill Road, Indiana, Pa.  President Larry Rodack welcomed those in attendance and opened the meeting at 7:00 p.m.  Those in attendance numbered 22 people.

Minutes:
The June 15th minutes were presented and approved.

Treasurer’s Report:
The treasurer’s report was presented and accepted.  Funds at the time were $695.94.

 Program:
ICPCUG member Larry Rodack presented the evening’s program on PowerPoint, Pinnacle Studio Ver 8 & Ulead..

Powerpoint: Larry demonstrated how to scan in photos through the drop down menu and insert them into a new slide.  He changed animation so that each photo appears separately on the slide.  This is done by first clicking on the photo and selecting "animation" and then type wanted.  The timing for these pictures can also be altered through this menu (not to be confused with the slide timing). Can tilt pictures by selecting picture and grabbing circular handle and moving to the right or left.

Pinnacle/Ulead: Larry demonstrated how to insert movies or sounds by navigating to the file on the hard drive.  He then changed the animation so that the sound starts and stops when needed.  There is an option to delay the start of a sound file along with many other options.  These are all set through a multi tabbed dialog box.

Larry showed a movie of his Las Vegas vacation which he created with the Pinnacle Studio program to demonstrat its versatility.  The software costs $100.  He combined stills and photos with music and created fade out/in transitions between clips.  He demonstrated how to do open a project and add a timeline.  Clip transitions appears on lower half of program.  The movie as it is played appears in the upper right corner of the program.  One can make all transitions the same by selecting all transitions then right click and select "ripple transition".  There are two sound files shown below time line, one from the camera and one that can be added.  The sound volume can be changed by moving the height of the line that represents each sound.  Instrumental sound files are included with program.  A menu can be added to enable one to jump to different chapters within your movie.  The menu may be transparent with motion in the background.  There is a separate track to add special sound effects.

Ulead is similar to Pinnacle in how it's designed.  It has a "Pan" or "Zoom" feature to add motion to a still shot. It also has many effects such as the "Bubble".  Just click and slide it to the picture or clip on the time line where needed.
