Tuesday, December 20, 2005
President Larry Rodack opened the monthly meeting of the Indiana County PC Users Group at 7:10 p.m. at the Indiana County Technology Center, Hamill Road, Indiana, Pa.

 Minutes & Treasurer’s Report
Secretary Bob Dalecki presented the minutes for the members’ review. Mr. Dalecki also presented the treasurer’s report, showing the current balance is $528.64. Both were approved as submitted.

Election of 2006 officersThe following officers were elected for 2006 by acclamation of the members in attendance: president, Chauncey Ross (nominated by Mr. Stadtmiller); vice president Donna McConnell (nominated by Mr. Stadtmiller); secretary & treasurer, Mr. Dalecki (nominated by Mr. Stadtmiller); publicity director, Mr. Ross (nominated by Darlene Graham); membership chairman, Jim Crissman (nominated by Mr. Stadtmiller); and program director, Steve Higgins (nominated by Mr. Ross).

Mr. Rodack reported that he would obtain new signature cards for the ICPCUG bank account.

Program
Mr. Stadtmiller presented a demonstration of podcasting and described a podcast as an audio/video blog. A user need a microphone, and may use an audio mixer, connected to a computer sound card and needs special software, such as “Garage Band” for Mac, to create a podcast.

For the demonstration, Mr. Stadtmiller searched Google for podcast software and downloaded and installed a program.

Industrial Audio Software (http://www.industrialaudiosoftware.com/products/epodcastproducer.html) has all the features that he said are necessary for recording and publishing podcasts; another that he evaluated was Propaganda.

Showing the Industrial Audio screenshot with a computer projector, Mr. Stadtmiller demonstrated digital editing, use of the tutorial and how to name and store podcast units.

With assistance from Ms. Graham, he created an informational podcast promoting Four-Footed Friends and showed how to publish the podcast to the Liberated Syndication Web site and code the file for access through RSS.

During Mr. Stadtmiller’s presentation, the members paused to enjoy pizza, other snacks, soft drinks and fellowship in observance of the holidays. Merry Christmas, everyone!

Program Director Higgins discussed the apparent industry trends toward production of smaller computers (boxes) and greater incorporation of home-entertainment features. An example of the trend is the Xbox360. PCs have the capacity to run all audio and video systems in a house and control delivery of MP3, DVD, satellite programming and other content to each room.

President Rodack reported that the ICPCUG Web site (www.icpcug.com) has been updated and said he would continue to post updated material to the site.

Close
The next meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2006. With no other business to conduct, Mr. Rodack adjourned the meeting at 8:42 p.m.

 Respectfully submitted,

 Chauncey Ross, Publicity Director
